Friday:
I had Friday off of work mainly just because. I had to get to Morehead State University (MSU) for graduation rehearsal by 6PM, so I decided to take the entire day off. I completed the remainder of Christmas shopping during the day, so I felt pretty darn productive!
I carpooled to MSU to go to the rehearsal and then to dinner with other MBA grads that were in our final class together as Team Digby for a simulation we had to do and totally dominated in! It was strange to be able to put faces to these people that you have talked to online for the past couple years. Also weird to be on the campus for the FIRST TIME of a school you were graduating from. I did all of my work online, so this was the first trip I had to make. Overall, I was shocked at how "country" MSU was and how small it was and also how unprepared the graduation rehearsal was. But it didn't really matter to any of us; we were just ready to be complete with our degrees!
After rehearsal, we grabbed a bite to eat at a local pizza place and then headed back to Lexington. Funny story here, the driver (note it wasn’t me, sorry Rebecca) took the wrong direction on 64. The funny part is nobody realized it until we saw the “Welcome to West Virginia” sign. Oops! Oh well, it happens and is just something you have to laugh about.
Graduation:
Saturday was the BIG day. Graduation started at 10:30, we were told to be there early around 9:30 – 10:00. So my mom and sister met us at our house and we drove to MSU as a caravan. Let’s just say that Morehead is not a town built for traffic. I am glad it was a Fall graduation rather than a normal one, otherwise it would have been even crazier!
Anyway, we got there in time and I got in line, they got their seats. It was a LONG ceremony! I think the kids were ready to get out of there by the time it was over! I know I was! But it was surreal. This was the first time I have ever worn a cap and gown. Let me explain… In high school, we wore a white tux for graduation. It was my school’s tradition. For my undergrad degree, at UK, I did not walk. I graduated in December (again), and at that time UK didn’t have a Fall commencement, so I would have to wait until the following May. Well, when you are young like that, it doesn't matter so much; so I didn’t walk or get the cap and gown. So, all that to say that this was the first time I have worn a cap and gown. It messed up my hair. That is how I feel about that.
Here is the only picture that I have right now from graduation. Most of the pictures are on the camera, but this was taken by one of my classmates/teammates right after graduation from her iPhone:
After graduation, we drove back to Lexington and celebrated with cake and friends! It was nice to see so many close friends and family come celebrate with me. I am sure Abby will have a blog post completed soon full of all the details of the festivities and more pics of the fun. So keep an eye on her blog!
Family:
Saturday night and Sunday, we had wonderful guests! My brother-in-law and his three kids came to stay with us on their way up north to celebrate Christmas with Abby’s parents. It was great to see them and hang out with them. They used to live in Cincinnati, so we saw them a lot more often, but now they live in Florida.
We did a lot of hanging out and the kids played with Adalyn a lot. Adalyn really enjoyed them and had a blast! Not sure what she will do now that they are gone.
They left Monday and the house is now quiet again, however the Burns’ have come down with a cold/flu funk that we are trying to kick before Christmas. So not much excitement has been had since Sunday. We will try to heal quickly so we can enjoy the upcoming travel plans and spending quality fun time with our families.
Random:
So, I am about out of blogger steam and am running out of things to say. There is a lot more to be said about the fun of the weekend, but for now, I will leave you with these pics to enjoy:

Great weekend and Mon and I feel really bad that we had to miss out. We are proud of you. See you in a few days.
So proud of your accomplishment and glad we could be in on the celebration. Although it was a busy weekend - looks like it was a fun one filled with family and friends which is always a good thing. Now...rest and embrace your non-homework status over the holiday!
