It's Been A Long Time...

Wow!  It has been a very long time since I last posted.  Almost three weeks even.  I will do my best to get you caught up in my life (as if you really cared, lol) but keep it short and concise.

My last post was about my new workout routine.  I have been keeping that routine up, so that is a plus.  I decided to also still keep my "stats" going forward after the P90X was over.  So here is a quick update of my "stats" for the past few weeks:

I last left off with the 04/01/2012 stats.  I won't go over the progress week for week.  But I was so happy to see the 14.7% body fat % on 04/15/2012 but figured that was just a fluke.  The good news is that even if it was a fluke, I still have lower body fat % than I did back on 04/01/2012 as of yesterday morning.

So, what else is new?  We have been working hard on getting prepped for baby Cayden and his room.  In order to do that, we had to move some things around in our house.  We have three bedrooms upstairs on the second floor.  One is the master bedroom, one is Adalyn's nursery, and the other was a guest room.  The challenge was to move the guest room.  Where you ask?  Well, we have a finished basement with a room that has been used as our office/sewing room.  That has now been nearly emptied and converted to the guest room and office area.  This required moving all the furniture out that was in there, painting the room, then moving all the guest bedroom furniture down to the basement.  Shew!  That is a lot of work just typing.  Thankfully that has all been completed so far.

What's next?  Now that the new nursery is empty, we have to paint.  This weekend we picked up Cayden's bedding and also a couple of samples of paint for the wall.  We are hoping to begin the painting and other project (it's a secret for now) for the nursery very soon.  Also, the nursery furniture is in and waiting for us to give the word for delivery.  So hopefully over the next few weeks, I will have some nursery pictures up!

My last update has to do with more fitness stuff.  I am injured y'all.  And it really sucks!  Last week I felt a bit of knee pain (right under my knee cap) at the end of my run.  It was 4.6 miles, which was the longest I have run since starting all of this, so I just figured it was because of that.  That was on my Tuesday morning run.  Thursday morning, I get up, do the usual stretching, etc. then take off.  Felt great, then at about a mile, I felt that same pain.  It hurt!  But I told myself to just push through it and it would work itself out.  It didn't!  At about 1.5 miles, I decided the pain was too much and turned around to jog on home [with my tail between my legs and head held low].  I called the doc and got an appointment for 7:30 the next morning.  Friday I still got up and did my leg strength training and didn't have much pain, so I thought that was a good sign.  Then I got ready for work, headed to the doc and got some X-rays, etc.

So, what is it?  I have been diagnosed with Patella Tendinitis!  It is a pain that is hard to describe, but it is right under my knee.  It is a tendon that connects the patella (knee to the tibia) and it aches.  The condition is usually caused by overuse (go figure).  What does that mean?  Well, the best remedy is to rest it.  However, I have a race this coming Saturday (remember, the Urban Dare? Yeah, that one).  So the doc said that I could continue training as long as the pain isn't too much and I can push through it.

I gave myself this weekend off from running, which was a challenge.  But I am hoping it helped.  I have also been stretching, icing, and elevating every night.  I picked up a compression band for under my knee to wear when being active as well.  Hopefully that will give me enough to get through this race on Saturday.  I am going to try and test out my knee tomorrow morning on my regular running day and will go from there.

So there it is.  I have been a busy bee lately and my knee hurts.  That is my summary for the past few weeks. Hopefully my next post won't take so long to get to.  If you stuck it out this long, thanks!  Until next time blogosphere...
