Yep, you read that right. I think I am going to take a (hopefully short) break from running and working out. I don't really want to as I am happy with my progress so far. Also, I am comfortable with my routine. Anybody that knows me knows that I am a routine type of guy. For example, I eat the same thing for lunch Monday through Friday everyday!!! Yeah, I know I am weird!
Anyway, I remember the doc telling me I should rest after the Urban Dare. So what did I do? I went out and ran 6.4 miles the Tuesday after. My knee is feeling much better, but now my heel/Achilles is really starting to be sore and limiting the movement of my ankle on the same leg. I must be overcompensating or something.
Quite honestly, the Achilles hurts worse than the knee at this point. I am happy to say that the pain subsides greatly with enough stretching. So I am going to take off at least until I get through the weekend and then re-assess my leg/foot/pain. I will continue to stretch both areas and ice them nightly. I just hope it goes away! I can run through the pain on both accounts, but I think I really need to fix it rather than put a band aid on it. After all, I will need both parts to compete in the Warrior Dash in June.
So, there it is. I hate to say it and hate to think about not burning the calories from working out/running, but I think it is the best thing I can do for my issues right now. Let's just hope I can get back to it in a few days! Until I can, I will be working on baby Cayden's nursery and hope to get it painted and furniture built by the end of this weekend.
That's it for now, until next time blogosphere...
