I am bad at taking pictures. Especially when I am in the middle of working. But I tried to document when I could and also texted some pictures to Abby throughout. So I will show you what all went on this weekend as long as you forgive the poor quality since they are from my phone. Let's just say it was a lot of labor and work. I think I worked from 8am - 11pm Friday and Saturday and then from after church until 9pm yesterday. I didn't even stop for the Derby.
Before I could start on the nursery, I had to clear out the room. It was previously our guest room. A few weekends ago, I worked on the basement. We had an office/sewing room down there that was going to become the new guest room so the guest room on the second floor would become the new nursery. So that work happened a few weekends ago, but to show you the changes, here is what the room looked like to begin with:
Before I moved the furniture to the basement, I cleared that room out and painted it the same color you see above. Here is the new office/guest room. Please note that these pictures are before we straightened everything and finished organizing the room. It was the best I had:
Painting in progress:
With the basement finished, I could start on the empty room which is now the nursery. First step was to measure and tape the wall. The bottom was going to be white (with a little something special) and the top a shade of blue:
All taped and ready to paint!
White on the bottom!
Then we had to decide which blue to pain the top. With Adalyn's nursery, Abby made me get about 6 different samples of pink and try them out. I made her promise to get fewer this time. So we ended up with two to choose from:
We chose the blue! It is going to be the one on the bottom. It matched the colors in the bedding better. Not sure why, but I didn't get a shot of the blue wall after we painted it but before we worked more on the bottom. Anyway, while we were painting the top half, look what got delivered:
Yep, that is all the nursery furniture! Wahoo, perfect timing! The next step was something special. Abby really wanted to put board and batten (spelling?) on the bottom half of the room. I carefully measured it all out and we started priming and painting the boards after we got them all cut to my dimensions. Here is the work in progress and after:
Priming and painting all the boards (Adalyn enjoyed wagon rides with Gramma Nan too!):
Boards installed, now time to paint them all:

Video of room:
The next step was to move the (heavy) furniture upstairs and assemble what needed to be assembled. Here is a shot of some of the final pieces in the room:
After church, I decided to work on the closet some and frame out the window (since my wife really wanted it done). But before I did that, I wanted to hang a swing for Adalyn on the bottom portion of our deck. So here is the end result of that:
A rare picture of baby A without a bow! It was hot and she just woke up.
Last, but not least, here is a final video of the finished product (I had to split it into two videos due to size):
That's it for me for now. I am glad I have a way to document this stuff, I hope you enjoyed. Until next time blogosphere...
